ACCREDITATION

Nanaimo Innovation Academy is non-profit society that operates an elementary school and child care facility.
The Elementary School
The elementary school is regulated by the Independent School Act (PDF) as authorized by the BC Government. The Independent Schools Branch administers the Act as well as any regulations, Minister’s orders and inspector’s orders made under the Act.
Our elementary school is in the final stages of completing the application with the Independent School Branch of the BC Ministry of Education and in the membership application process with FISABC.

The Child Care Facility
Our child care facility is accredited by the Vancouver Island Health Authority (VIHA) of British Columbia.
Rules and guidelines for licensed child care facilities are found in the Community Care and Assisted Living Act, the Child Care Licensing Regulation, and the standards of practice. Our licensed child care program meets and exceeds provincial government requirements for:

Staff at Nanaimo Innovation Academy
All of our staff are professionals in their field and our teachers are highly-qualified educators--certified BC teachers and Early Childhood Educators (all of which regulated and approved by the BC Government). Throughout the year, all staff attended numerous professional development workshops and conferences.
